About the inquiryOn 30 October 2018 the Secretary of State for Transport announced that an inquiry into the application for the Midland Metro (Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Land Acquisition) Order would be held. The Promoter (or Applicant) is the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
This Order contains provisions for the compulsory acquisition and temporary use of land for the works authorised by the 2005 Order - Midland Metro (Wednesbury to Brierley Hill and Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2005. This is because the original powers of compulsory acquisition under that Order expired in 2010. Inspector & Programme Officer John Felgate BA MA MRTPI, an independent Government Inspector, was appointed to conduct the inquiry. The Inspector was assisted by Melanie Owen-Roberts, an independent Programme Officer. Inquiry date & venue The inquiry commenced at 10.00 on Tuesday 19 March 2019 at the Village Hotel, Dudley and sessions were held on one day. The Inspector closed the inquiry in writing on Monday 1 April 2019. A Pre-Inquiry Meeting was not held and the Inspector circulated a Pre-Inquiry Note giving further details about the inquiry process and submission of proofs of evidence. All proofs and written submissions can be viewed on the Documents page. Objections & supporting letters
